The final solution to gangs?

This is the conclusion I've come to; in order to finally reduce gang activity to none-threatening numbers, the U.S now has no choice but to launch a quasi-military strike on them. Such would include sending troops into gang infested areas and patrolling the streets and sending them into hives for gang activity and- after offering arrest- fire at them. There would be no ariel strikes, only the use of helicopters to search building tops. None-gang civilians would be in no danger because no explosives would be used. All we would use are armed troops. In the case of those large, broken down project apartments, we would have troops do searches of each house- but it would not be a serious one where the flip every chair and couch. All they would be looking for are gang members. In fact, even in the case of finding drugs, nothing would be done. The entire operation would simply be to find and detain- unless they resist- gang members. The main targeted areas would be places like L.A and other gang infamous cities/states. Any thoughts?
